Ethereal and delicate, Kunth’s Maiden Fern (Thelypteris kunthii) flourishes in the humid, shaded habitats of Brevard County’s woodlands and hammocks. Its graceful, lacy fronds capture the quiet magic of Florida’s subtropical landscapes.
This unique botanical artwork preserves finely pressed fronds between two crystal-clear glass panes, allowing light to flow through the piece and creating an almost weightless display. The natural forms appear to float, casting subtle shadows that shift with the day.
Each piece is a labor of love, taking several months to bring to life—from sustainably foraging local plants to meticulously designing compositions that complement the unique shape of each specimen and its chosen frame. The plant-drying process alone can take up to two months to ensure each frond retains its delicate detail and color. Glass panels are custom-cut and sealed into the frame with silicone for durability and stability, then secured with traditional glazier’s pins along the back.
